Evergreen Brickworks or the Don Valley Brickworks is a heritage site and a former brick-working factory in the Don Valley. The area consists of a natural park environment and the former brick factories.

Evergreen is raising $55M to transform the site into a international showcase for urban sustainability and green design.

During the summer months, a local farmers' market is held on weekends

The National Geographic Traveller recently named the Brickworks as a top 10 sustainable tourism destination [1]

There are 16 buildings which host a farmers market, garden centre and art exhibits. Yoga and tours are also held.

History

Founded in 1882, a farmer - William Taylor dug into the site and hit clay. He founded the Don Valley Pressed Brick Company. The site has been used as a brickworks until 1989. Bricks from the site are found in Casa Loma, Hart House, Toronto General Hospital and the Ontario Legislature.
