Toronto is known for its large amount of greenery and parks. For those who like hiking, there are various excellent trails throughout the city

Toronto Islands

Various paved trails run through the islands. Good for the summer, where temperatures are a few degrees below that of the city.

Bluffer's Park

See the dramatic Cathedral Bluffs, formed by clay and glaciers thousands of years ago.

Start at Bluffer's Park at the end of Brimley Road and follow the footpath to the beach. Head west to the Rosetta McClain Gardens which features rocks, pet cemetery and a perch that offers a view of Lake Ontario. Parks are open year round with limited hours.

Leslie Street Spit

Also known as Tommy Thompson Park. The part is built on landfill into Lake Ontario and is a santuary for birds and other wildlife. Over 15km of trials are open mostly on weekends.

Humber River Trail

The 13km long trail runs from Lakeshore Blvd through James Gardens to Raymore Park

Don River Trail

The 14km Don River Trail begins at the lake and runs north to Lawrence Ave. There are numerous public art sculptures by Noel Harding near the Ontario Science Centre Continue to Edwards Gardens to see manicured gardens

Martin Goodman Trail

MGT is paved and runs along the lake and Lakeshore Blvd. The trials runs from the beaches in the east end of the city to the Humber River in the west. The bike lanes make it popular among cyclists

Belt Line and Cedarvale Ravine

The 14km loop north Toronto loop follows an old railway line and crosses 3 different ravines
