Mountain Equipment Co-Op (MEC) is an outdoors/sporting goods co-operative which started with six members in 1971 and has grown to over 3 million worldwide, with locations across Canada. It is the largest retail co-operative in Canada.

To purchase equipment from MEC, a membership into the co-operative is required. To join MEC the life-time membership fee is $5 and may be obtained online or at MEC retail locations.

MEC is one of the rare buidlings in Toronto with a green rooftop, although it is not accessible to the public. The vegetation on the roof is mainly long grasses
