What Maple Leafs Gardens looked like before it became a Loblaws
Officially opened on November 12, 1932. Notable acts have played MLG include the Beatles and of course – your Toronto Maple Leafs.
In 2004 Loblaws purchased the site from MLSE after a bidding war with Home Depot. It was believed that part of the sale agreement was that the building could not be used to host events that would compete with the venues owned/operated by MLSE.
In 2009, an announcement was made that the building would be redeveloped to be the future home of a flagship Loblaws store and a student recreation centre for Ryerson University
